Jonas is a (mostly) human scientist/academic/diplomat/ethics advisor from the planet Langara, who ended up defecting to Earth because he disagreed with his country's cold war politics. He then replaced Daniel Jackson on the SG-1 team, and spent a year and a half exploring the galaxy and fighting baddies and discovering new cultures. He's extremely optimistic, friendly, cheerful, nerdy, intelligent and adorable.
